She's the child who was killed on Memorial Day, allegedly at the hands of her 9-year-old playmate.
A grandmother, devastated as a community gathered to bid farewell to her granddaughter, Queenie Washington. Queenie is the 11-year-old girl who police say was fatally stabbed by her friend last Monday while playing in the younger child's East New York apartment building. Investigators say the younger girl grabbed a steak knife and plunged it into Queenie's chest when the older girl wouldn't share a pink rubber ball.
Bushwick's Holy Tabernacle Church of Deliverance filled to overflowing as friends and family looked on in disbelief that a life so young could be taken in such a way. And it's not the first time such violence hit this family. Not long ago, Queenie's father was murdered. For solace, the girl grew stronger in her faith.
Funeral Speaker: "She loved the church. She loved Sunday school, and she loved God."
Queenie's mom, Felicia Washington, was visibly overwhelmed with grief. Her daughter's death is impacting an entire community.
Lateysha Gilbert, Cousin: "I just hope that we could just all stick together as one in the community and love one another and let's not fight, because God is taking our children away from us day by day."
The straight-A student had been looking forward to her elementary school graduation this month. Queenie, described as well-rounded, never got to see that day.

This is by far the saddest thing I have seen in a long time. My heart breaks for her mother and grandmother. God be with them. Rest with Jesus Queen.
