YEARS of sexual torture and abuse ended when 14-year-old Stacy Gibbs was murdered by her abuser, who hid her body in a latrine pit.
Stacy was beaten, probably hit on the head with a blunt object, and killed last week Friday by a male relative, police say.
The man told Stacy's mother, Brenda Gibbs, who was not witness to the murder, that Stacy ran away. He helped the family search for Stacy last week, and even accused a relative of kidnapping her.
Relatives told the Daily Express that Stacy ran away from home for three days to escape her sexual abuse last month.
The suspect, 39, led investigators to the body yesterday, eight days after he buried the girl in the latrine pit.
There were several gashes on the girl's body, on her arms and between her legs near the girl thingy, but police could not say whether they were chop wounds or marks of decomposition.
After he had murdered the girl, the man wrapped her in a sheet and then in a plastic bag.
He put a hardened bag of cement into the plastic bag to weigh her down, then put the body into the filled cesspit, covered it with the concrete latrine cover, and then galvanised iron.
Stacy was clad in a white and pink top and her underwear.
Her body was not badly decomposed, as police say the water in the latrine had "preserved" the body.
Investigators and police dogs searched the area earlier in the day but did not find the body.
Stacy lived at Moller Street, near Demerara Road off the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway, with her mother, Brenda Gibbs, her stepfather, Timothy Pierre, and four siblings-two brothers and two sisters.
The man buried Stacy in the latrine in the yard of an unfinished house located across the highway from where the girl lived.
The incident is reported to have happened last week Friday around 9 p.m at the girl's home.
Her mother was in Valencia by relatives when her daughter was murdered.
The suspect is said to have beaten Stacy's younger sibling before sending them to bed.
He then took the girl to the gallery of the house, where he murdered her.
One of Stacy's younger brothers witnessed the beating, and he told police that Stacy was begging for her life.
Late on Wednesday, Brenda telephoned her relatives in Valencia and told them that Stacy was missing. That was the story the man gave her.
The family went to the Arima Police Station on Thursday and reported Stacy missing.
The suspect had at first refused to go to the police station and only changed his mind after Brenda quarrelled with him, relatives said.
While investigating, police got information that Stacy was murdered. They questioned the male relative who later led them to the body around 2 p.m. yesterday.
A relative told the Daily Express yesterday that the man would often buy clothes and shoes for the Stacy and give her "little forty and eighty dollars" to bribe her to keep quiet .
Last year, a report was made to the police that Stacy was being sexually abused by the man, and he also attempted to rape another relative.
Your safe now Stacy in the arms of Jesus!
